    Marblehead/Kelleys Island

I am planning a walleye trip to the Marblehead/Kelleys Island area and would appreciate any information anyone has about that area. Where to fish? Where to stay? What kind of bait to use? etc. Can anyone help?

    RE: Marblehead/Kelleys Island

We stayed on Kelleys last year, In a small cabin on the south side of the Island. Nice place, old ,but clean. We fished mostly north of Kelley in that 30-35 foot range. We also went west and a little north of the island. Most of our fish came on Reef Runners. Purple Deamon, or Fire Tiger. We also caught some nice fish on night crawlers off the bottom, with bottom bouncers and spinners.

The bite has been going steady for the last week or so. Cranks have been producing (Deep Husky Jerks and Reef Runners), but the harness bite has been on fire. Run colorado blades behind bottom bouncers and inline weights. A 2 oz inline weight in front of a harness 30-40 back has been a killer.

Around Kellys Island has been doing well, as well as north of Rattlesnake all the way up to the Canadian line.

As far as lodging, the Best Western on 163 is close, clean, and reasonably priced. The Compass Rose on 53 is also decent, and a little closer to the ramps. The Best Western is within walking distance of a lot of restaurants and watering holes. Go to Jolly Rogers for an incredible meal. Negoya steak and sushi house is on the corner of 163 and 53. It's top notch.

We kept focused a year ago, In a little lodge on the south side of the Island. Pleasant spot, old ,however clean. We angled generally e six sigma north of Kelley in that 30-35 foot range. We likewise went west and a bit north of the island. A large portion of our fish went ahead Reef Runners. Purple Deamon, or Fire Tiger. We additionally got some decent fish on night crawlers off the base, with base bouncers and spinners.
